The Role

We are hiring a Software Engineer to join the Manila-based Digital Solutions team. Reporting to the Senior Software Engineering Lead, you will contribute to building high-quality software that supports bfinance's investment implementation platform.

You'll be part of a growing team (Lead, Engineers, QA), with opportunities to work on end-to-end development—from requirements gathering to cloud deployment. Many initiatives are greenfield projects, giving you the chance to influence architecture, design, and best practices.

The team follows an Agile development process, prioritizing efficiency, iteration, and continuous deployment.

Key Focus Areas

• Transitioning legacy systems into a unified, integrated platform
• Migrating to a modern technology stack using best-in-class tools

• Delivering new and improved services across:

• Business processes

• Data acquisition and integration
• Data analysis (including AI/ML)
• Dashboards and reporting

As part of a small, agile team, you'll collaborate closely with global colleagues, including stakeholders in research, engineering, and AI/ML projects. Strong written communication and the ability to work asynchronously are essential. Daily collaboration requires at least two hours of overlap with the UK team.

Interviews are fully remote, and the team currently operates in a work-from-home setup.

Responsibilities

• Work with the London Digital Solutions team to plan, design, and deliver software solutions
• Develop both frontend and backend architectures
• Build responsive and visually appealing frontend applications
• Design secure, efficient APIs and ensure best-practice data protection
• Test and optimize software for performance, responsiveness, and security
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade systems as needed
• Maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation
• Collaborate with the investment research team to enhance software usability
• Keep up with modern development trends and emerging technologies

Key Competencies & Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or has equivalent practical experience. A strong understanding of Algorithms, Data Structures, Object-Oriented Programming, Software Design Patterns, and API design is essential.

Essential Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Solid full-stack web development background with production-ready code
• Strong backend experience in Python, ideally using Django and DRF
• Expert-level experience with TypeScript, React, and the modern React ecosystem
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors and bundlers is an advantage
• Knowledge of Agile processes and CI pipelines
• Proven ability to use AI tools to improve development workflows
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to building secure, high-quality software
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate across distributed teams
• A privacy- and security-focused mindset aligned with the finance sector
