Powerhouse Operator

Job Summary:

Responsible for operating and monitoring the powerhouse equipment within the palm oil mill, particularly the boiler, steam turbine, and generator sets. And ensures continuous and safe supply of steam, electricity and water to support mill operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitor and operate steam turbine generators and auxiliary equipment according to standard procedures (startup/shutdown, reading levels, pressure, temperature, etc.)
2. Monitor control panels, gauges, meters and alarms to ensure equipment in functioning properly.
3. Record operating data, report all abnormalities, alarms, and potential failures to the supervisor immediately.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational logs and shift reports.
5. Performs troubleshooting operational issues.
6. Perform routine checks, minor maintenance, and assist the maintenance team during scheduled activities.
7. Keep equipment and surrounding areas clean and free of oil, ash and debris.
8. Ensure strict compliance with all safety rules and environmental regulations (emissions, waste, chemicals). Participate in drills and safety exercises.
9. Coordinate with the shift team for smooth handover and communicate effectively.
10. Respond quickly to emergencies such as equipment failure, fire and unsafe operating conditions.
11. Support in training new operators.
12. Reports any observed abnormalities to supervisor.
13. Adhere to company's code of conduct.
14. Participate in fire drills, emergency shutdowns, and other safety exercises.
15. Performs other related task as may be assigned from time to time.

What we're looking for

1. Vocational or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Plant Technology (Bachelors degree preferred)
2. At least 2-3 years of experience as a Powerhouse Operator or in a similar role within related utilities.
3. Strong technical knowledge of boilers, turbines, generators, and water treatment systems.
4. Ability to read gauges, meters, and control instruments.
5. Problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues
6. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
8. Able to work in shifting schedule.
