Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising all maintenance activities in the seafood processing plant to ensure that all machinery, refrigeration systems, cold storage facilities, utilities, and building structures are operating efficiently and safely. This position ensures the reliability of all equipment supporting production, water treatment, and cold chain operations while maintaining compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the maintenance team in performing corrective and preventive maintenance for processing equipment, refrigeration units, compressors, blast freezers, ice machines, and cold storage facilities.
  • Ensure all production equipment (cutting machines, conveyors, sealing machines, water pumps, etc.) are in optimal working condition to prevent downtime during operations.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules aligned with production requirements and food safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues promptly to avoid disruption of operations.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation departments to ensure maintenance activities comply with hygiene and safety standards of food processing.
  • Maintain and update maintenance logs, service records, and equipment performance reports.
  • Oversee and ensure the maintenance of water supply systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and generator sets.
  • Monitor the performance of ammonia or freon-based refrigeration systems and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Supervise contractors or third-party service providers for major repair works or equipment installations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement needs with the Purchasing and Accounting departments.
  • Ensure all maintenance staff follow safety procedures, use proper PPE, and maintain cleanliness within the maintenance and production areas.
  • Conduct regular training, performance evaluations, and toolbox meetings with maintenance personnel.
  • Recommend process or equipment improvements to increase reliability and efficiency of plant operations.
  • Perform other related functions as required by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical fields.
  • Licensed Engineer is an advantage but not required.
  • With at least 3–5 years of supervisory experience in maintenance within a seafood or food processing plant environment.
  • Strong background in refrigeration systems, cold storage operations, and industrial machinery maintenance.
  • Knowledge in electrical control systems, welding, plumbing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards related to maintenance and sanitation.
  • Proficient in MS Office and capable of preparing maintenance reports and schedules.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Willing to work on extended hours or on-call during urgent repairs or production schedules.
