Job Description

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of food items served in Green Bench Coffee and cafeteria. The role requires practical cooking skills and experience in pasta, gourmet sandwiches, all-day breakfast plates, steaks, comfort food, and signature meals. The Cook ensures consistent food quality, efficient kitchen operations, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Food Preparation and Cooking

  • Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with standard recipes and portion sizes.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality for all dishes served.
  • Handle a range of preparations including pasta, sandwiches, breakfast dishes, grilled items, and main entrées.
  • Assist in preparing daily cafeteria meals for staff.

Kitchen Operations

  • Set up the kitchen and maintain readiness during operating hours.
  • Ensure all workstations are properly stocked, organized, and clean.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages or ordering needs.
  • Observe proper food storage, labeling, and inventory rotation.

Food Safety and Cleanliness

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times.
  • Follow company and regulatory standards on food handling and sanitation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions immediately.

Teamwork and Coordination

  • Work closely with baristas and service staff for timely order fulfillment.
  • Support a cooperative kitchen environment and assist other team members when needed.
  • Communicate effectively regarding menu items, supplies, and daily operations.
