IT Technician

Position Purpose:

An IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware, and a variety of

internet applications, networks, and operating systems. IT Technicians have great troubleshooting

abilities and attention to detail.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Prepare computers, equipment, and necessary peripherals for delivery to employees.
• Maintain an inventory of company computers and equipment.
• Check computer hardware (HDD, mice, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality.
• Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
• Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
• Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
• Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
• Support all troubleshooting, including video conferencing and audio-conferencing room systems, projectors, digital screens, and other related equipment.
• Troubleshooting for room systems, including microphones, cameras, and desktop PCs and laptops.
• Perform system maintenance and updates as appropriate.
• Provide staff with technology support, which includes troubleshooting operating systems, applications, and network issues, answering questions regarding application use, and the installation of software.
• Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
• Advise best practices, institutional policies, and process improvement.
• Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
• Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.).
