We are seeking a Data & Systems Integration Engineer who will be responsible for planning, researching, and designing a compact, cost-effective, and high-performance computing unit that consolidates multiple networking and compute functions into a single hardware appliance. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, networking, and hardware integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and evaluate off-the-shelf hardware components (motherboards, NICs, wireless cards, enclosures, etc.) suitable for building an integrated appliance.
  • Plan and design a system capable of handling: Network routing, Firewall management, and Wireless access point functions.
  • Provisioning and running Linux virtual machines.
  • Balance cost, form factor, and performance considerations in component selection and overall design.
  • Conduct benchmarking and performance testing of chosen configurations.
  • Document integration requirements, design trade-offs, and recommended solutions.
  • Collaborate with software/network engineers to validate compatibility with routing, firewall, and virtualization software stacks (e.g., pfSense, OpenWRT, Proxmox, etc.).
  • Assess thermal, power, and durability requirements for continuous operation.
  • Provide reports and recommendations for production readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in computer hardware integration or systems engineering.
  • Experience with networking technologies (routing, firewall, wireless protocols).
  • Familiarity with Linux virtualization (KVM, Proxmox, libvirt, or similar).
  • Knowledge of network security principles and common firewall/router software.
  • Understanding of cost-performance tradeoffs in hardware design.
  • Ability to document technical findings and present clear recommendations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior work with small form factor computing (SFF) or embedded hardware.
  • Experience in homelab or enterprise appliance builds.
  • Hands-on familiarity with PCIe expansion, NICs, wireless adapters, and storage solutions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Php30, Php50,000.00 per month

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
