The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the café to ensure smooth functioning, high-quality service, and an excellent customer experience. This role involves managing staff, coordinating with suppliers, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food standards.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day café operations, including opening/closing procedures.
  • Ensure all food and beverages meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Implement and maintain operational policies, processes, and systems.

Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise café staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching/mentorship.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused team culture.
  • Manage payroll, attendance, and shift planning.

Customer Service & Experience

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by handling complaints effectively.
  • Monitor service speed, cleanliness, and customer interactions.
  • Introduce initiatives to improve guest experience and repeat business.

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Monitor daily sales, expenses, and profitability.
  • Assist in budget preparation, cost control, and sales forecasting.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local food safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and staff training.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in café, restaurant, or hospitality management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food & beverage operations and inventory management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts quickly.
  • Financial literacy with experience in budgeting and reporting.
  • Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer applications.

  • Hands-on role requiring presence on the floor as well as administrative tasks.
