Senior Test Engineer

I Primary Function:

To ensure all products being tested are in compliance with the required test specifications provided by the customer.  To ensure all testers or test handlers are in optimum condition with all test instruments are calibrated and all mechanical parts are well maintained according to the master schedule.  To spearhead group of Test Engineers, Officers and Technicians driving for quality, yield, productivity, efficiency and cost improvements to achieve more profitable department.  Ensure all key performance indicators are achieved and guide subordinates for career advancements thru continuous knowledge and skill enhancements.

II.  Duties and Responsibilities:

Directly reports to Executive Test Engineer or Test Engineering Manager.

Lead the group of Test Engineer, Officer or Technician to achieve all Key Performance Indicator (KPI).

Drive for Quality, Final Yield, First Pass Yield, Productivity and Cost improvements using 7 steps of problem solving or 7 Quality Control tools.

Spearhead reduction of Tester Over Reject (TOR), Contact Miss, machine downtime (MDT), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) and improvement of Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Lead test setup/fixture innovation, life span study and support Low Yield Trigger (LYT) reduction.

Supervise qualification and evaluation of new device, test program, board, fixture, tester or test handler.

Carry out document review of Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Control Plan (CP), Process & Product, Preventive Maintenance (PM), Calibration (CAL), internal Verification (VER), Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R), Correlation and Standard Monitoring Control specifications and test limit versus -05 document verification.  To ensure fundamental activities defined are effective and drive for total customer quality satisfaction.

Generate process flow and step by step operating procedure for operators and technicians to follow and execute test operations efficiently.

Establish cook book to guide Test Technicians on the most effective steps responding to (MDT) in order to reduce MTTR and improve MTBF.

10.    Perform test time calculation and generate Tester Qualification Matrix for production and planning reference.

11.    Establishing PM, CAL, VER, testing setup/calibration/conversion, SMC/Chart & Negative Sample verification procedures.  Including the standardization of 5S.

12.    Support on assessment of Lot Rejection Notice (LRN), Inspection Trouble Report (ITR) and Discrepant Material Report (DMR) cause and countermeasures.  Be the liaison to Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Assembly and Test Team.

13.    Support on spare parts control to ensure critical or consumable parts have enough spare at all times.

14.    Support on periodical tester or test handler setup, initialization and calibration in accordance to the production plan.  Ensure correct test program is used.

15.    Support on the verification of Standard Monitoring Control (SMC) units and Negative Samples to ensure accuracy of tester and test equipment.

16.    Assist on plotting SMC chart of all required test parameters to confirm precision of tester and test equipment before releasing for production use.

17.    Support on performing tester or test handler conversion when requested by production team.

18.    Provide help on any machine downtime immediately and perform repair/troubleshooting to support production.

19.    Support on Test Board repair, Hardware or Software hard down when necessary.

20.    Support on Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Grounding compliance to ensure tester or test handler does not induce any electrical over stress (EOS) or electric shock to the product and operator respectively.

21.    Assist on periodical PM, CAL, VER, GR&R, Correlation, Test Cable verifications to satisfy measurement requirements.

22.    Support on Test Program imaging and periodical Test Data back-up.

23.    Support on asset list verification to ensure all machines are monitored and registered accordingly.

24.    Supervise the generation of Correlation, SMC and Negative sample to be used for validating the performance of every tester.

25.    Prepare KPI reports not limited to Projects, Improvements, Yield, MDT, MTTR, MTBF and OEE.  Extend support on KPI for SMC, GR&R, Test Cable Verification, PM, CAL and VER.

26.    Liaison to both internal and external customers regarding Product Return Tracking (PRT), projects, improvements, evaluations and qualifications.

27.    Maintain 5S for all testers, test handlers and work stations at all times.

28.    Support any additional requests from customer or superior during the course of work.

III.  Job Specification and Qualification

Educational Attainment :  Engineering Course (ECE/EE/COE/ME) or equivalent

License :  Added advantage

Programming :  LabView, C++, Visual Basic and Python will be added advantage, knowledge in test instruments like oscilloscope and curve tracer,

Training/Work Experience :  With minimum of 3 years work experience as Test Engineer in a Semiconductor or Optoelectronics Industry
