Responsible for the purchase of construction contracts and materials for all projects. General ResponsibilitiesReviews and negotiates suggested changes to master contract agreement and purchase order's terms and conditions for MCM and all affiliated companies. Reviews and evaluates vendor bids, considering price, lead time, past performance, etc., to determine the successful bidder that complies with plans and/or specifications for MCM and all affiliated companies.
Reviews all required qualifications and scope of contracts to ensure complete coverage. Ensures awarded contracts/purchase orders are processed timely to meet project schedules. Attends networking events and/or career fairs to promote the company's profile and maximize the subcontractor pool.
Reviews and qualifies subcontractor pre-qualification forms. Maintains expert interpersonal relations to effectively resolve conflicts. Possesses advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and interpretation of computerized cost data and systems.
Has advanced knowledge of procurement, vendor inspection techniques, business contract law, and financial management. Creates and manages the departmental budget. Supervises and directs clerical staff, delegating work with clear instructions and verification.
Establishes and maintains working contacts with subcontractors and vendors. Reviews work authorization forms for clarity and compliance with contract documents. Updates buyout sheets and contract status reports as projects are bought out.
Tracks uncommitted purchase orders to ensure closure. Reviews and monitors Material Requisition Forms (MRFs) for accuracy and value. Maintains high organization standards creating a professional office environment.
Develops and maintains departmental file structures. Attends public speaking courses to improve leadership and communication skills. Designs and implements training programs.
Reviews plans and specifications for completeness and conflicts; suggests value engineering. Collaborates with the Chief Estimator during the estimating process. Reviews bid summaries to ensure correct subcontractor inclusion.
Creates spreadsheets for comparative analysis as needed. Reviews and qualifies subcontractor proposals. Focuses on analytical problem solving.
Performs material and labor take-offs from plans for bids, proposals, or material procurement related to change proposals (CPRs). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Expedition, HCSS, Takeoff Software, and Timberline PO module. RequirementsFour (4) year Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Construction plus five (5) years of construction experience.
5-8 years estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in similar facility construction. Seniority level
