About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Passive Fire Protection Estimator to remotely handle our New Zealand projects. The successful candidate will prepare accurate material take-offs, cost estimates, and professional quotations for passive fire protection systems—covering firestopping, fireproofing, fire-rated walls/ceilings, and related solutions. This role ensures competitive pricing, compliance with NZ standards, and supports overall project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications for New Zealand projects to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Complete material and quantity take-offs for firestopping, fireproofing, fire-rated enclosures, penetration seals, structural protection, and other passive fire protection systems.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor components.
  • Coordinate with NZ-based suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Support value engineering proposals and recommend alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Manage multiple NZ tenders simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain awareness of market pricing, material technologies, and installation methods in the NZ context.
  • Prepare professional tender submissions and client-facing documentation aligned with NZ requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as an estimator in passive fire protection systems.
  • Knowledge of firestopping, fireproofing, fire-rated walls/ceilings, and penetration protection.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand fire protection standards and building codes preferred.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Excellent communication skills — must be fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating/take-off software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage remote NZ accounts efficiently.
