Job description:

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Typical duties include:

  • Ensure timely preparation, review and filing of all corporate monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns and supporting schedules – e.g., VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, final tax, documentary stamp tax (DST), local taxes, etc. (maintain book of accounts as well)
  • Ensure timely payment of tax dues and proper remittance to the BIR and other regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain proper tax account reconciliations and review tax-account balances; propose and post adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Monitor and ensure the issuance of certificates of tax withheld (e.g., BIR Form 2307) and other required tax documentation.
  • Keep current on changes in tax laws, regulations, rulings, administrative issuances, and assess impact to the business.
  • Provide tax compliance support in audits, examinations and assessments by BIR, as well as liaise with external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Review contract terms and business transactions for tax compliance implications and propose tax-efficient structuring (subject to tax planning oversight).
  • Coordinate renewal of business permits, local tax registrations, property tax schedules, and ensure compliance with local government units (LGUs) as required.
  • Assist in development and implementation of internal tax compliance policies and procedures, internal control over tax processes.
  • Respond to internal queries (from business units, suppliers, clients) regarding tax treatment and implications.
  • Prepare periodic tax compliance reports / checklists for management, and track status of required filings, payments, and audit exposures.
  • Other ad-hoc tax-compliance or tax-project tasks as directed.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Prior tax or compliance certification is advantageous.

Experience

  • Typically 3-4 years of tax compliance or corporate tax experience in the Philippines (for mid-level role).
  • Experience dealing with BIR, LGUs, and Philippine tax canons (VAT, withholding tax, income tax, DST, etc.).
  • Experience with audit support and external auditor interactions is a plus.
