A. General Description of the Job

Facilitates energy trading in the energy market ensuring cost-efficiency by minimizing risk and optimizing the balance between Bilateral contracts and spot energy exposure to ensure the least generation rate for the consumers.

B. List of Requirements

  • Forecasts the energy demand in the franchise area; ensuring that the demand projection is close to actual energy purchased.
  • Monitor and analyze overall market conditions, involving supply-demand situation, weather updates, fuel indices and all factors that can influence the electricity price; formulate findings and make recommendations if needed.
  • Formulate monthy/daily demand and price forecasting as a tool in the proper allocation of capacities into bilateral contracts vis-a-vis spot exposure, ensuring optimal solution to deliver the least-cost electric service to the consumers in the franchise area.
  • Validate the final settlement data and analyze the monthly result vis-a-vis the daily trading strategies performed.
  • Aid the team in relation to retail market switching, competitive selection process, and all other regulatory activities.
  • Prepare and submit demand nomination to all power suppliers and NGCP.
  • Assist the head and other departments in providing the needed market data and report.

C. Skills and Qualifications

  • A graduate of Electrical Engineering with strong quantitative focus.
  • Must be a Registered Electrical Engineer.
  • Preferably with at least 1 year of working experience in the energy industry.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several different tasks at once.
  • Proficient in analytical tools such as Excel, Matlab and Python programming, Power BI.
  • Familiarity with the Philippine Power Industry, EPIRA, DSOAR, RCOA, WESM rules and manuals.
