A. General Description

Facilitates energy trading in the WESM in the least cost manner by minimizing risk and optimizing the balance between Bilateral contracts and spot energy exposure to ensure the least generation rate for the consumers.

B. List of Responsibilities

  • Forecasts the energy demand in the franchise area; ensuring that the demand projection is close to actual energy purchased.
  • Optimize daily bilateral contract nominations vis-a-vis WESM purchase to achieve least generation cost.
  • Gathering and managing market data for analysis, such as: Market Prices and Schedules, Daily Metering Data, Pricing Error Notice/Price Substitution/ Methodology, Market Information, etc.
  • Monitors the status of the Distribution utility and the System Operator and responds to changes as necessary.
  • Analyze market behavior and respond to changes in demand and market prices.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of reports including: Rate Simulation, End-of-Day Trading Report, Monthly Energy Sourcing Report, Customer Information Report etc.
  • Prepare and submit demand nomination to all bilateral power suppliers including WESM.
  • Assist the head and other departments in providing the needed market data and report.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with internal and external (such as, but not limited to Energy Trading, NGCP, IEMOP, Supplier's Trading Team, PEMC, ERC and DOE) stakeholders.
  • Other ad-hoc task assigned by manager.

C. Qualifications

  • Graduate of BS Electrical Engineering
  • Must be a Registered Electrical Engineer
  • Advance skills in use of various tools and Microsoft application (e.g. Excel)
  • Good analytic and problem solving skills - related to Electricity Market
  • Great verbal and written communication
