Database Engineer - Oracle

Background:

The Wholesale bank account reporting engine, the GCRP application, is a Critical application for the bank and its customers. Given that GCRP is the strategic account reporting engine, its functionalities and customer reach keep on expanding. With this expanding scope and business criticality, the importance of proper testing is ever increasing.

Role description

You will be responsible for Writing PL-SQL,performance tuning and database administration.

Enforce best practices , standards and guidelines across the domain.

Since you will be part of a true DevOps squad, you are also expected to contribute to monitoring & alerting, risk, resilience.

Expect contribution towards Operations related activities (incident management, standby, release management, change and problem management).

Also share your knowledge and skills with other engineers in the squad.

Role requirements:

Below are the requirements that have been set for this role (experience and knowledge) and the MoSCoW classification for each.

Must have experience working with Oracle 11g / Oracle 12 / Oracle 19.

Must be able to identify and implement improvementsrequired in Database.

Must have experience to write and analyze complex PL-SQL, tuning and optimizing queries.

Must be able to write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).

Must be able to read, analyze and advise based on AWS reports,

Since you will be part of a true DevOps squad, you are also expected to contribute to monitoring & alerting, risk and resilience.

Knowledge of other types of databases (no-SQL, Cassandra)

Able to write unit tests and functional tests preferably in IBM RIT / Cucumber

Technology and Tools

Experience with SQL (Oracle)

Experience with Linux and Windows based machines

Experience with networking (FTP, XFB, MQ, EMS)

Experience with using Docker/containers for testing

Experience with Jenkins, CI/CD and ansible

Soft skills

Experience with Jenkins, CI/CD and ansible

Waste buster > automation mindset, not only related to testing but to everything

Always out to learn new skills, and to teach others in the process

Proactive attitude > don't wait for someone to tell you what to do

Not shy to express and defend his/her opinion in front of a crowd (which may not be the popular opinion)

Others:

Experience with Agile and Scrum way of working

Experience with working in an international environment

Knowledge of Payments and Account Reporting

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree , Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Others) or equivalent.

At least 4 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Preferably 1-4 Yrs Experienced Employees specializing in IT/Computer - Network/System/Database Admin or equivalent.
