Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronics & Communications Engineering, Computer Science or any 4-year IT-related course.
  • Must have at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Cloud Database Administration, Database Architectures, Design and Management, MS SQL, or Sybase.
  • Preferably with Microsoft Certification on Azure DBA Associate.
  • With in-depth knowledge in cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.

Job Description:

Planning

  • Programs the sequence and priority of action steps to be followed by his/her team in accordance with the department's objectives/goals, and project timelines;
  • Formulates Database Administration's policies, guidelines and procedures as well as Database Administration Projects such as: upgrades of database versions, enhancement of enterprise application servers, enhancement of replication mechanisms, activation of Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), and support to Connectivity Projects, and submits to Database Administration Manager for review and approval;
  • Reviews the report on system performance and capacity and recommends solutions, if applicable, to the Database Administration Manager/Assistant Vice President for System Operations for approval and appropriate action;
  • Provides advice/consultation on database administration-related matters to all units/departments/divisions as needed;
  • Provides input in the annual Database Administration budget planning; and,
  • Anticipates needs and concerns that may arise and comes up with remedial plans of action to address it.

Leading

  • Participates and make recommendations to Database Administration Manager/Assistant Vice President for System Operations following the recruitment, selection and placement policies of the Company;
  • Develops and motivates staff to help them improve their competencies for higher productivity and career growth;
  • Initiates and/or attends to various coordination meetings for consultations which require immediate actions, clarifications and resolutions of issues affecting specific departments or the Company in general; and,
  • Presides over department meetings, in the absence of the Database Administration Manager, to discuss accomplishments, concerns and issues weekly.

Organizing

  • Conducts coordination and/or planning meetings, in the absence of the Database Administration Manager, with Sr. Database Administrators, Database Administrators and Jr. Database Administrators to ensure good quality and timely delivery of results; and,
  • Establishes work relationships and delegates authority to ensure cooperative efforts of staff.

Controlling

  • Oversees team progress in accomplishing set goals/objectives and implements necessary action plans to address any discrepancy from the agreed deliverables and timelines;
  • Assesses the work progress and actual performance of staff based on established performance standards and indicators;
  • Manages risks related to database information. (e.g. database corruption, data inconsistencies and server);
  • Provides reports and submits the team's accomplishments and performance on set deadlines; and,
  • Oversees compliance of staff to Company policies, guidelines and procedures.
