We are looking for an
Azure cloud-Cosmos-Mongo database technology expert
to manage the DB infrastructure and operations within Chubb. Your primary objective will be to designing, implementing, and managing scalable database solutions in Azure cloud environment across the regions and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will part of a team of DB engineers in the region and Chubb engineering centers (matrix organization) and collaborate with various regional and global stakeholders to develop, implement, and operate robust DB services aligned with the organization's goals. You will work closely with development teams to ensure efficient data management practices while maximizing performance and minimizing downtime. Your primary focus will be on optimizing our use of Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB to support various applications and data-driven initiatives.

Job Description

• Database Design & Implementation – Design and implement database solutions using Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB best practices. Create data models, schemas, and database management processes tailored to application needs.
• Performance Optimization - Monitor and tune the performance of databases, including queries and indexing strategies. Implement best practices for data partitioning, sharding, and replication to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Security & Compliance - Implement security measures to protect sensitive data in compliance with relevant regulations. Monitor access control and audit logs to ensure data security practices are followed.
• Backup & Recovery – Establish and manage backup and recovery processes for database environments to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Data Migration & Integration - Plan and execute data migration strategies from on-premises databases or other cloud systems to Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB. Integrate databases with existing applications and services, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Scripting - Proficiency in scripting languages such as Terraform, Python, Bash, JavaScript ),Ansible, Puppet, or similar for managing MongoDB deployments for automation tasks.

Technical skills

• Primary skills: Azure-Cosmos-MongoDB & Scripting (Ansible, MongoDB Shell, Python, PowerShell, Terraform)
• Secondary skills: Oracle, SQL-Server & PostgreSQL
• Proven experience with Cosmos DB/MongoDB scaling across data centers and/or in-depth understanding of HA strategies, including replica sets and sharding
• Analyze SQL query plans, suggest and implement solutions to support developers in development and production environments. Performance troubleshooting - performance tuning and optimization, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, Analyze SQL query plans, suggest and implement solutions to support developers
• Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, including performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and replication problems.
• Optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Ensure high availability through replication, failover, and other redundancy measures
• Enforce best practices for database security, including data masking, encryption, and role-based access control
• Automate routine database administration tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and ARM templates.
• Document database configurations, processes, and best practices, contributing to the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge resources
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in database technologies and Azure cloud services.

Collaboration

• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that align with business objectives.
• Provide 24/7 support for critical database systems and assist with troubleshooting complex database issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Certifications in Azure (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate) or MongoDB (e.g., MongoDB Certified Developer)
• 7+ years of experience in database engineering or related roles, with a focus on Azure cloud, Cosmos DB, and MongoDB
• Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, or Azure Data Factory is a plus
