The Asset Protection Clerk plays a key role in protecting company assets, minimizing inventory loss, and detecting internal and external theft through surveillance systems and investigative support. This position reports directly to the Merchandise Audit Manager and operates within the Asset Protection Department. The role involves monitoring store locations via CCTV, supporting audits, analyzing suspicious activity, and assisting in loss prevention reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties

Surveillance & Monitoring

  • Monitor live CCTV footage from multiple locations to identify theft, policy violations, and suspicious activities.
  • Escalate notable incidents to the Merchandise Audit Manager and Field Loss Prevention Team.
  • Maintain detailed logs of surveillance activities and prepare incident documentation.

Audit & Investigative Support

  • Analyze transaction data, store logs, and exception reports to detect fraud or inventory irregularities.
  • Assist in internal investigations regarding merchandise loss, fuel theft, and refund abuse.
  • Verify POS transactions and fuel pump activity against video surveillance and internal systems.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate regular reports (daily, weekly, monthly) outlining incident trends and investigation findings.
  • Maintain a secure digital archive of video footage, screenshots, and investigative materials.
  • Support the audit process by compiling evidence and summaries for internal and external review.

Operational Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with cash handling, safety, and fuel dispensing protocols.
  • Collaborate with field teams to provide visual evidence and support operational audits.
  • Assist in follow-ups on violations with supporting documentation and help enforce corrective actions.
Job Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in loss prevention, security monitoring, or retail operations.
  • Experience using CCTV systems, DVR software, and other remote surveillance tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and incident reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management concepts.
