Role Overview:
The Account Manager will be responsible for driving the sales of IT products, managing key accounts, and navigating the government bidding process for IT solutions. This individual will play a critical role in developing and executing strategies to acquire government contracts, build relationships with public sector clients, and close large-scale deals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sales strategies targeting both private sector and government clients, with a focus on IT products and solutions.
- Lead the identification, response, and winning of government IT bids, including RFPs, RFQs, and other procurement opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with government agencies, key accounts, and high-value clients.
- Develop new business with existing clients and identify opportunities for improvement to meet sales quotas.
- Understand customer needs and propose tailored IT solutions, including hardware, software, cloud services, and IT infrastructure.
- Prepare reports on account status and sales activities.
- Work with the sales team to identify and grow opportunities within your territory.
- Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
- Negotiate complex deals, including pricing, contract terms, and service level agreements, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Monitor industry trends, government procurement cycles, and competitor activity to stay ahead of market shifts and identify new opportunities.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, track progress against targets, and report on sales activities to senior leadership.
- Work with internal teams (marketing, purchasing, logistics, technical, etc.) to ensure successful execution of sales and customer delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales, with a focus on IT products or technology solutions, and proven experience in government bidding processes.
- Strong understanding of government procurement cycles, RFQ processes, compliance requirements, and contractual terms specific to IT solutions.
- Demonstrated track record of exceeding sales targets and winning large-scale deals, particularly within the government sector.
- In-depth understanding of IT products and solutions, including hardware, software, networking, cloud computing, and IT infrastructure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to navigate government regulations and procurement standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Certifications in sales (e.g., ITIL, Cisco, Microsoft) and government procurement processes are a plus.
