Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will be one of the first point of contact in the Outpatient Clinic and will provide direct support to medical staff by conducting medical history taking and delivering high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Patient Care and Support:

  1. Obtains medical history through intake and assessments, including measuring of vital signs.
  2. Provides information to patients and their families about care plans and procedures.
  3. Provides emotional support to patients and their families

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Maintains cleanliness of patient care areas and adhere to all safety protocols, infection control procedures and facility policies.
  2. Participates in handling and disposal of hazardous materials
  3. Maintains professional relationship with all members of the healthcare team
  4. Performs other clinical operation functions that may be assigned from time to time

Communication and Documentation

  1. Accurate documentation of patient information and medical history; and encoding the same via available system.
  2. Ensures that patients' needs and concerns are communicated clearly by acting as a point of contact between patients and medical staff.
  3. Consolidates and prepares reports in preparation for Medical Doctors Review.
  4. Prepares, reconciles and submits census and billing related reports to respective units.

Patient Education and Continuous Learning and Development

  1. Educates patient and families on care procedures and health management
  2. Participates in patient care planning and team meetings as needed.
  3. Participates in staff training and development program as required

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Preferably College degree graduate/s (medical field is a plus).
  2. If not college graduate, at least 2 years college or Senior High graduate
  3. Prior experience in a healthcare setting or customer service is highly desirable
  4. PCT Certification or Health Care Services NC II with or without certificate is a plus but not required.
  5. Must be computer literate and can operate basic clinical tools/equipment
  6. Personable with good communication skills and empathetic skill-sets
  7. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
