Job Summary
The Legal Department Team Leader oversees the company's legal operations and ensures full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements. This role supervises the day-to-day activities of the legal team, provides expert guidance on corporate legal matters, and ensures the timely processing of business permits, licenses, and registrations, including SEC and DOLE compliance. The position serves as the bridge between management and external regulatory bodies to safeguard the company's legal standing and operational continuity.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Corporate and Regulatory Compliance
- Manage and monitor compliance with corporate legal requirements, including SEC registration, General Information Sheet (GIS) updates, and amendments to Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws.
- Ensure timely registration, renewal, and updating of business permits, licenses, and accreditations with relevant government agencies (e.g., SEC, DOLE, DTI, BIR, LGUs, FDA, PEZA, etc.).
- Review and maintain corporate records, board resolutions, and other legal documents in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with external counsel, consultants, or regulatory officers for filings, submissions, and audits.
- Oversee compliance with DOLE reporting requirements, labor standards, and workplace-related permits or registrations.
B. Contract Management and Legal Documentation
- Draft, review, and finalize contracts, memoranda of agreement, and other legal instruments to protect the company's interests.
- Ensure all contracts are properly vetted, approved, and archived following internal control procedures.
- Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, risk exposure, and mitigation measures.
C. Governance and Risk Management
- Advise management on corporate governance best practices and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in formulating and implementing company policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
- Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and propose preventive or corrective measures.
D. Supervisory and Leadership Functions
- Lead and mentor members of the legal team, assigning tasks and monitoring performance and output quality.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations and provide training and development support for team members.
- Facilitate coordination with other departments (HR, Finance, Operations, etc.) to ensure cross-functional compliance.
- Ensure the team meets deadlines and maintains accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal documents.
E. Liaison and External Coordination
- Represent the company in dealings with government agencies such as SEC, DOLE, BIR, DTI, LGUs, and other regulatory offices.
- Manage relationships with external counsels and ensure efficient resolution of legal concerns.
- Monitor and track the status of regulatory filings and ensure timely completion.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Law, Legal Management, Political Science, or a related field; Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB preferred.
- License: Member of the Philippine Bar is an advantage but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in corporate or regulatory legal work.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of corporate law, labor law, and regulatory compliance in the Philippines.
- Proficiency in document drafting and legal research.
- Familiarity with SEC, DOLE, BIR, and LGU compliance processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and integrity in handling confidential information.

- In-person
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (6-day workweek)
