Key Responsibilities;

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are adhered to throughout the organization or project.
  • Update safety policies in accordance with changes in regulations, laws, or industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure that the organization or site meets all compliance requirements.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for internal audits and external safety inspections.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety violations, incidents, and compliance actions.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors to promote a safe working environment.
  • Develop specialized safety training modules for high-risk activities.
  • Mentor and guide junior safety officers or team members.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire safety plans, and first aid protocols.
  • Conduct emergency drills and simulations to ensure readiness for various potential incidents.
  • Oversee crisis management and response in case of emergencies or accidents.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of workplaces, equipment, and operations.
  • Recommend continuous improvements to safety programs and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Ensure that safety practices and lessons learned are shared across all departments or projects.
  • Supervise and lead safety teams, ensuring that all safety-related responsibilities are effectively managed.
  • Provide strategic leadership and input into the development of long-term safety goals.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to integrate safety into overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in safety management, preferably in high-risk industries (construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of local and international safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and hazard analysis.
  • Proficiency in safety management systems and software.
