Job Summary

The Accounting Team Leader is responsible for supervising daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the finance team in achieving organizational goals. This role oversees a team of accountants and plays a key part in maintaining efficient accounting processes, timely financial reporting, and effective internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and guide the accounting team in daily operations.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

2. Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy.
  • Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for management review.
  • Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations.

3. Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Maintain and improve internal control systems to prevent errors and fraud.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.

4. Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support automation and digitalization initiatives within the finance department.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting processes.

5. Budgeting & Forecasting Support

  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for financial planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar) and MS Excel.
