Position Summary

The Inpatient Team Leader oversees daily operations of the inpatient coding team, providing guidance, workflow management, and performance monitoring to ensure timely, accurate coding and compliance with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of inpatient coders, ensuring productivity and quality benchmarks are met.
  • Assign work, manage schedules, and support staff with coding-related challenges.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for escalated issues and provider communication.
  • Partner with CDI, compliance, and auditing teams to ensure alignment.
  • Track performance metrics and report progress to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Certification as CCS, CIC, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of inpatient coding experience, with leadership or mentoring preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, and coding compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
