JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Structural Design Engineer leads the design and analysis of structural systems for solar PV projects—ensuring safety, cost efficiency, and compliance with local and international standards. The role supports both design and construction phases, providing technical expertise, mentoring junior engineers, and driving continuous improvement in design quality and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP & DESIGN AUTHORSHIP

  • Lead structural design of PV mounting systems, including fixed-tilt, tracker, rooftop, and floating structures.
  • Author and approve structural calculations, design assumptions, and drawings for all critical components.
  • Ensure all designs meet safety factors, code requirements (NSCP, ASCE 7, IBC, IEC 62738), and project specifications.
  • Perform wind load analysis (ASCE 7, NSCP 2015) and seismic calculations for typhoon-prone regions.
  • Conduct site suitability assessments (soil testing, topographic surveys).
  • Provide technical guidance on complex structural challenges and innovative design solutions.

TEAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering skill development and technical excellence.
  • Assign tasks, review work, and ensure accountability for team deliverables.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing and a collaborative team culture.

CROSS-DEPARTMENTAL COORDINATION

  • Work closely with civil, electrical, procurement, project management, and O&M teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Provide structural input for permitting, constructability, and operational planning.
  • Resolve on-site issues and provide guidance for as-built verification and post-installation inspections.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering (PRC licensed).
  • Minimum 5–8 years in structural design, preferably in solar PV or renewable energy projects.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of people management and leadership experience
  • Experience with utility-scale, commercial, and residential solar installations.

B. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with using Structural Analysis software STAAD.Pro (required), or other software such as Midas GEN, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, or IdeaStatica and AutoCAD.
  • Can prepare data calculations of structural design of foundations, connections, concrete structures, steel structures in accordance with the codes (NSCP 2015/AISC/ACI).
  • Strong knowledge of NSCP, ASCE 7, IBC, IEC 62738, and foundation/structural standards.
  • Experience in geotechnical interpretation, foundation design, wind/seismic analysis, and steel/aluminum structure detailing.

  • Ability to drive quality standards, process improvements, and team performance.
