Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Solar/PV system design certification (NABCEP preferred)

Experience:

  • 3-5 years in solar PV system design
  • Experience with utility-scale and commercial solar projects
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, local codes)

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in solar design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Helioscope)
  • Single line diagram (SLD) development
  • PV layout optimization and shading analysis
  • String design and electrical calculations
  • Mounting system design and structural considerations

Engineering Knowledge:

  • Electrical system design principles
  • Solar irradiance and energy yield calculations
  • Inverter and component selection
  • Grounding and protection systems
  • Grid interconnection requirements

Software Proficiency:

  • CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Solar modeling tools (PVsyst, SAM, PVSOL)
  • MS Office Suite
  • Project management tools

Soft Skills:

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Client presentation abilities
  • Quality-focused with attention to detail
  • Adaptability to new technologies and standards

This role requires strong technical foundation combined with practical solar industry experience to create optimized, compliant designs.
