We are looking for a highly skilled Finance Team Lead – General Ledger (GL) to oversee the general ledger function, ensure accurate financial reporting, and manage month-end close processes. This role is responsible for supervising a team of GL accountants, ensuring adherence to accounting standards, and driving process improvements within the Record-to-Report (R2R) function.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and supervise a team of General Ledger accountants.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure SLAs and KPIs are met.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for escalations related to GL activities.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training, and development planning for the team.

General Ledger Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day GL activities, including journal entry reviews, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Review and analyze financial statements to ensure proper reporting in line with IFRS or US GAAP.

Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external audit requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing and reviewing necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all GL transactions.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare or review monthly financial reports and dashboards.
  • Support variance analysis and provide insights to management for decision-making.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as needed.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within GL and the broader R2R function.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., AP, AR, FP&A) to streamline processes and improve data integrity.
  • Support ERP implementations, upgrades, and other system enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
  • At least 5–7 years of relevant experience in General Ledger or Record-to-Report (R2R), with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) and financial controls.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Shared services or BPO experience.
  • Experience with audit, consolidation, or statutory reporting.
  • Exposure to automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, RPA) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of regional accounting and tax regulations (e.g., APAC, EMEA).
