Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

  • Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator for 6 to 15 years
  • In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
  • Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
  • Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
  • Hardening of Servers must be done based on Client requirements
  • Linux OS installation and configuration of servers through kickstart/jumpstart method
  • Configure RAID and LVM file system as well as troubleshooting
  • Manage Linux Filesystems through Physical and Logical Volume creation
  • User and Group Management – Adding, Managing and Removing activities
  • Configuring and working with NIS/NFS setup environment
  • Handles decommission activities for Linux Servers
  • Monitored and automated Jobs with shell scripting
  • Configured Apache webservers on Linux systems
  • Performed NetBackup client installation and CIFS/Samba administration
  • Coordinated with RHEL vendors for the Operating system performance issues
  • Good understanding of e-mail protocols and architectures - SMTP, POP, IMAP
  • Hands-on/knowledge on experience in Ansible, Chef and Puppet automation tools.
  • Redhat Satellite Servers Installation and Configuration to synchronize the content from Red Hat Customer Portal and other sources, and provides functionality including fine-grained life cycle
  • Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
  • Experience with Incident, Request Items and Change Management as per the ITIL Process.
  • Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
  • Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure components in a virtualized Linux Environment
  • Plan and deploy migration of applications from Solaris to Linux
  • Fully manage the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers
  • Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies such as NAS or SAN
  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environment
  • Within this role the individual will architect, install, configure, and optimize computing systems and networks in a Linux based environment
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and resolve failures and critical alerts on Linux servers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve failed processes on Linux Servers

v Work on Changes/Tasks/Incidents

v Handling Routine/Comprehensive changes.

v Maintain PROD/DR/QA/Dev/Test/SIT/UAT infrastructure.

v Managing oracle/HP/IBM and UCS cisco physical server through ilo console

v Working with vendor RedHat/IBM/HP/Veritas and oracle

v Managing EXSi virtual machine using vSphere client
