Job Summary

This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate of a Civil, Structural or Mechanical engineering program. The role of Junior Solar Structural Engineer will involve managing projects throughout the solar engineering project cycles, and assisting our licensed Professional Engineers for project review. This includes performing administrative and technical engineering tasks to prepare structural engineering documents for permitting.

This is a 1-year contract position, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.Working hours are 9:00am est to 5:30pm est.

Responsibilities
.


• Prepare and manage structural reports for permitting applications, ensuring they are accurate and submitted on time


• Interpret site information to determine if a structure is suitable to hold the additional weight of solar PV systems


• Perform structural evaluations and calculations for residential buildings


• Assistance for our engineers with designing, assessing and reviewing drawings


• Communicate with clients, permitting officers, engineers, and internal teams

Qualifications And Skills


• Fluency in English (written and verbal)


• Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering background with 0-2 years of experience


• Excellent time management skills


• Strong attention to detail and communication skills


• Able to work in a fast-paced environment


• Able to work independently and as part of a team


• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills


• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office, Smartsheet and Salesforce is considered an asset


• Knowledge and experience with Canadian Building Codes: OBC, NBCC, and American Building Codes: IBC, ASCE is an asset


• Ability to read architectural or structural drawings is an asset


• Experience with structural software such as: RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, WoodWorks, considered an asset
