What We're Looking For

As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer (Android) at EROAD, you will be part of a collaborative agile team building innovative mobile solutions for our global fleet management platform. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Android applications that deliver seamless user experiences and robust functionality for our customers.

You will contribute to the architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement of our mobile apps, working closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers. Depending on your level of experience, you will also support or lead the adoption of best practices in mobile development, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence across the team.

About the Role

Job Responsibilities

Mobile Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• For senior roles: lead architectural decisions, code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

• Contribute to the evolution of our mobile architecture and development processes.
• Integrate mobile applications with backend services and APIs.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and delivery of high-quality software.
• For senior roles: drive technical initiatives, champion best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Testing and Quality Assurance

• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Work with QA engineers to validate new functionality and resolve defects.
• Analyse and address performance bottlenecks and bugs.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in mobile development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices and documentation.
• For senior roles: introduce innovative solutions, share knowledge, and help shape the future of our mobile platform.

Job Qualifications

• Strong experience developing Android applications using Kotlin (and/or Java).
• Solid understanding of Android SDK, UI design principles, and best practices.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, mobile architectures, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• For senior roles: proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions.
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Proactive and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
• Passionate about mobile technology and delivering high-quality solutions.
• Capable of mentoring team members and influencing technical direction.
• 5+ years of experience in mobile software development, preferably in SaaS or enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to design scalable mobile architectures and deliver robust applications.
• Deep understanding of mobile engineering principles and tools.
