Job Summary

The Commis Chef / Line Cook plays a key role in ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen while assisting in food preparation and maintaining quality and safety standards. This role involves ingredient preparation, proper food storage, inventory monitoring, and supporting kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, cooking equipment, and storage areas in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist in food preparation, including cutting, portioning, and cooking, following kitchen guidelines.
  • Properly store and handle ingredients to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.
  • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and assisting with deliveries.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is used properly and report any maintenance or operational concerns.
  • Adhere to hygiene, health, and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak hours.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or food & beverage setting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as needed.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
