The Commercial Engineer will be responsible for the financial and contractual health of construction projects. This role involves, but is not limited to contract administration, managing insurance and bonds, cost control, and risk identification to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client's specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Risk Management & Contract Administration:

  • Manage and administer project insurance policies and performance/retention bonds, ensuring all required documentation is in place, current, and compliant with contractual requirements.

  • Assist in identifying commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and administer the payment process for sub-contractors and suppliers, including valuation of work completed.
  • Ensure all contractual notices and obligations (both client and sub-contractor facing) are met.

  • Cost Control & Financial Reporting:

  • Monitor and track project costs against the approved budget and provide regular cost reports and forecasts.

  • Identify potential cost overruns and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage change orders, including evaluating the financial impact and ensuring timely processing.

  • Support & Liaison:

  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Manager, Site Team, and Quantity Surveyors.

  • Conduct project site audits from time to time.
  • Liaise with clients and their representatives regarding commercial matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in any Engineering Course, preferably licensed.
  • Experience: 3-4 years of experience in a commercial and contracts administration.
