The incumbent is primarily responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Rex Education Foundation, works with the Board members to carry out the mission, drives strategic directions and partnerships, acts as a spokesperson addressing community needs, and oversees day-to-day operations. Champions development of fundraising strategies and program initiatives, develops and implements policies and procedures, implements monitoring systems, and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Leads staffing, onboarding, recruitment, and retention, implements management development programs, and creates clear staff roles, key results areas, and performance indicators.1.
Strategic LeadershipDevelops and executes the Foundation's strategic plans, ensuring alignment with its vision, mission, and values by articulating long-term and short-term goals while working closely with the Board of Directors, stakeholders, staff, and volunteers. Streamlines operations to reach a broader audience, identifies new ways to leverage digital tools and platforms to optimize online fundraising strategies, and establishes robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information. Acts as an industry thought leader, staying informed on trends and developments in the education sector while playing a key role in day-to-day leadership and implementation of programs as a liaison between the Board and staff.
Serves as the organization's public face, advocating for its mission and representing its interests to policymakers, the media, and the public, participating in advocacy campaigns, media interviews, and public speaking engagements to raise awareness of key issues.2. Operational ManagementIdentifies and develops new initiatives that address the Foundation or community needs while balancing charity versus advocacy promotion to ensure program effectiveness. Develops strategic partnerships and maintains strong relationships in the academic sector, community, with peers, donors, industry associations, and the media to build alliances.
Runs day-to-day operations by ensuring legal and statutory compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including tax and employment laws, and reports on financial matters to ensure transparency and accountability. Drives compliance with all laws and regulations, creates systems to monitor compliance, and ensures meeting the highest standards for the Foundation, identifying potential risks, and developing strategies to mitigate and minimize risks.3. Financial ManagementLeads and demonstrates competence in reading, creating, and understanding financial documents, including budgets, cash flow, income statements, balance statements, and statements of functional expenses.
Develops operational, financial, and technical aspects of the organization, including preparing accurate financial reports, coordinating and leading annual budget reviews, and implementing consistent inventory and cost accounting policies to sustain financial stability.4. Fundraising StrategiesChampions and spearheads fundraising strategies, including grant applications, donor relations, and community fundraising initiatives while working closely with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Builds trust and rapport with sponsors, donors, and funders, persuading them to invest in the organization's mission and initiatives, presenting compelling proposals, and addressing concerns from potential sponsors.
Designs and implements robust funding relationships that meet or exceed strategic goals, providing accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends, ensuring annual fundraising goals are met. Designs and executes powerful pitches at major events to effectively persuade audiences to contribute while creating a culture of fundraising.5. Board Relations DevelopmentSupports and collaborates with the Board, providing necessary information and reports for informed decision-making, facilitating Board meetings, and assisting in board member recruitment and development.
Works in partnership with the Board, assisting in their operations, administration, planning, and information dissemination. Builds, sustains, and strengthens Board functions, including meetings, policy compliance, and committee work to build alignment while maintaining role clarity. Performs other relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
