The Actuarial Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the sound management of the company's assets and liabilities through a robust ALM framework. The role combines actuarial expertise, investment knowledge, and risk management acumen to analyze, monitor, and optimize the financial balance between assets and liabilities.

This position is responsible for leading the review and enhancement of ALM reporting, framework, and practices, while providing strategic insights to support the management of General Fund, Surplus, and VUL portfolios. The Manager will also lead and participate in various strategic and cross-functional projects involving actuarial, finance, and investment teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. ALM and Investment Strategy Review

  • Support the periodic review of investment strategies for multiple portfolios in alignment with the company's ALM framework.
  • Lead ALM analyses and coordinate with Investment and Actuarial teams to review portfolio risk/return profiles and ensure ALM risks are appropriately managed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of how asset strategies impact ALM limits, income, reserve valuation, and capital requirements.
  • Participate in scheduled and ad-hoc reviews of Portfolio Policies and Investment Strategy parameters.

2. Pricing and Product Development Support

  • Identify and assess ALM-related risks in product pricing and development.
  • Provide input to the product development process to ensure new offerings align with ALM and investment objectives.

3. Asset and Liability Risk Management

  • Lead regular monitoring, management, and reporting of ALM-related risks, including interest rate, equity, foreign exchange, credit, and liquidity risks.
  • Coordinate with Investment, Actuarial, and Finance functions to ensure ALM reports and initiatives are timely, accurate, and relevant.
  • Recommend and implement updates to ALM measurement and reporting metrics as outlined in internal ALM guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with ALM policies, risk appetite frameworks, and stress testing requirements.

4. Valuation, Financial Reporting, and Risk Management

  • Provide ALM support for financial reporting under IFRS 17 and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Conduct reviews of asset and investment assumptions used in valuation exercises (e.g., equity returns, asset defaults).
  • Support broader enterprise risk management and capital planning activities through ALM analysis.

5. Strategic Projects and Initiatives

  • Lead and participate in key ALM-related projects to enhance the company's financial stability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives impacting investment strategies, risk frameworks, and reporting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 7–10 years of actuarial experience in a life insurance or financial institution, with specialization in ALM or investment-related functions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting concepts and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with actuarial modelling tools (GGY AXIS or similar) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Php160, Php170,000.00 per month
