Job Summary:

The Test Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all testing activities within a designated project or delivery unit. This includes managing test teams, ensuring adherence to defined testing processes, and maintaining visibility into test progress, risks, and resource needs.

The role covers the management of all test resources within the project, including Test Leads, Test Analysts, Test Engineers, Test Automation Architects, Performance Test Engineers, and Test Automation Analysts. The Test Manager also drives the identification and prioritization of manual test cases for automation and provides strategic requirements to the Test Automation Architect to support scalable and efficient test execution.

The assignment of this role is determined by the complexity and scale of the delivery effort—particularly when multiple test teams are engaged across programs or projects—requiring focused leadership and structured oversight.

The Test Manager works in close partnership with the Test Delivery Manager from the Test Administration team to align project-level execution with enterprise-wide testing strategies, governance standards, and quality objectives set by TCOE. This collaboration ensures consistent delivery, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the testing lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivery Team Test Management Responsibilities

  1. Comply with the ITG Quality Framework established by TCOE.
  2. Ensure that all test processes are followed according to the SDLC and TCOE Test Process.
  3. Collaborate with Project Managers, ITSD Unit Heads, and Development Leads across units and project teams to ensure quality delivery and gather resource demands.
  4. Provide guidance to Test Leads and supervise test teams to ensure consistency in implementing test processes.
  5. Gather and report test status and represent the test team in meetings within and across units.
  6. Identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  7. Prioritize testing activities to ensure the delivery of commitments.
  8. Gather resource requirements for upcoming projects and unit enhancements.
  9. Plan, control, and implement testing processes.
  10. Define and monitor the execution of test tasks and activities.
  11. Manage schedule, budget, and overall test efforts.
  12. Provide requirements or raise the need for automation of manual testing to the Test Automation Architect.
  13. Ensure team adherence to quality metrics and targets defined by the Test Administration Team, and actively drive performance towards meeting TCOE standards through coaching, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  14. Identify skill requirements and training needs for team members.
  15. Ensure resource alignment with project needs, skill requirements, and delivery timelines.
  16. Conduct regular performance reviews and feedback sessions with both internal and external test resources.
  17. Facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure continuity during resource transitions.
  18. Drive innovation in testing practices, applying best practices and lessons learned.

Collaboration with Test Administration Team – Test Delivery Manage

The Test Manager will collaborate closely with the Test Delivery Manager from the Test Administration Team to:

  1. Align project-level test plans with the Master Test Plan and strategic test objectives.
  2. Provide input for test estimates and resource requirements during project planning.
  3. Ensure compliance with TCOE standards and audit requirements.
  4. Participate in risk escalation and SWAT interventions when delivery risks are identified.
  5. Share test progress, defect trends, and quality metrics for centralized reporting.
  6. Resolve shared environment and test data conflicts across concurrent projects.
  7. Adopt best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives led by the Test Administration Team.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree relevant to the job.

Work Experience

  1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 5 years in a Test Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  2. Proven experience managing hybrid teams (internal and vendor/external resources).
  3. Hands-on experience with test management tools such as Micro Focus ALM, Jira-Xray, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  4. Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
  5. Demonstrated success in managing testing for large-scale, cross-functional projects or programs.

Knowledge Area

  • Test: Solid understanding of industry-standard software testing methodologies, frameworks, and lifecycle processes.
  • Domain: Familiarity with financial services and banking operations, including regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to testing.

Skills

  1. Experience in managing an independent testing team for projects and/or AMS/Production Support.
  2. Experience in Project Management, Risk and Issue Management, and Mitigation.
  3. Expertise in Resource Management—including Capacity and Demand Management.
  4. Experience in functional and non-functional testing.
  5. Proven ability to drive test process improvements within teams and across the organization.
  6. Experience in mentoring and coaching team members as part of performance management.
  7. Knowledge of testing tools such as MF ALM, LoadRunner (LR), UFT, Jira, Selenium, GitHub, and Jenkins.
  8. Strong communication skills for reporting test status and metrics.
  9. Experience in cross-functional collaboration with centralized governance teams.
  10. Strong understanding of QA governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
  11. Familiarity with strategic test planning and enterprise-level compliance requirements.
  12. Knowledge of test automation frameworks and performance testing tools.
  13. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
