Job Description
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost and contractual aspects of construction projects from initial estimation to final account. The role ensures that projects are delivered within budget, comply with quality standards, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership to junior QS staff and collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects.
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQ).
Manage procurement processes, including tender evaluation, contract negotiation, and award.
Monitor project costs, track variations, and issue cost reports regularly.
Assess and certify progress billings, change orders/variation claims, and final accounts.
Conduct site visits to verify work progress and ensure alignment with contract specifications.
Review and administer contract documents, including claims and dispute resolutions.
Provide value engineering advice to optimize project cost and efficiency.
Lead and mentor junior quantity surveyors, ensuring accuracy and compliance in their work.
Liaise with project managers, consultants, suppliers, and clients for cost and contractual matters.
Ensure adherence to applicable laws, industry standards, and company policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Professional license or accreditation (e.g., PRC, PQS, RICS) is an advantage.
Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant QS experience, preferably in construction, infrastructure, or building projects.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, local contract forms, etc.).
Proficient in cost control software and MS Office applications.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
