Contract Type: Full-Time Independent Contractor

Location: Remote (Philippines-based only)

Pay Structure: $10 - $15/Hour, USD via wire transfer

About the Role:

This role is open only to independent contractors located in the Philippines. DHA CPAs is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Tax Accountant to join our remote team as a full-time independent contractor. The position will begin prior to 2025 year-end and includes a 90-day probationary period, after which performance and long-term fit will be evaluated.

As a Tax Accountant, you will focus primarily on preparing U.S. individual income tax returns (Form 1040 and applicable state returns), while supporting clients with compliance and planning needs. We are looking for a self-starter who thrives in a deadline-driven, cloud-based environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare U.S. individual income tax returns (Forms 1040 and/or 1041, and applicable state returns)
  • Assist clients with tax planning, identifying deductions, credits, and incentives
  • Maintain accurate financial records to support filings
  • Ensure compliance with individual tax laws and stay current on changes
  • Communicate with clients, addressing questions and providing guidance
  • Research tax law updates and adjust strategies as needed
  • Use tax software and accounting tools to improve efficiency
  • Uphold ethical standards, including confidentiality and conflict-of-interest policies

Education & Qualifications

  • Professional or bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in US individual tax preparation (1040)
  • Proficient in general accounting practices
  • Familiarity with: Microsoft 365 (Excel) and tax software—preferably CCH Axcess or CCH Engagement
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, preferred (not essential)

Schedule & Location:

  • Full-time: 40 hours/week (minimum 36 hours/week in the Summer)
  • Busy Season: Jan 15 – Apr 15, with increased workload
  • Flexible hours with at least a 4-hour overlap between 8:00 am–5:00 pm CST
  • Daily time entry required; overtime must be pre-approved
  • 100% remote (Philippines-based only); dedicated private workspace required

Tools, Resources & Benefits

As a full-time independent contractor with DHA, you will receive contract-based resources and benefits consistent with our offshore contractor program.

Provided Upon Start (Day 1):

  • Required of Contractor: Stable, high-speed internet and private workspace required (additional equipment such as monitors or headsets may be provided by DHA as needed)
  • DHA laptop with required software and applications
  • All DHA-provided equipment must be returned upon separation; partial reimbursement may apply if the contract ends within 12 months
  • 9 Paid Holidays (Philippines non-working holidays), including any holidays that fall during the 90-day probationary period

Paid Time Off (PTO):

  • PTO is front-loaded and available to use during the 90-day probationary period
  • PTO accrues monthly throughout the year (140 hours annually, increasing with tenure)
  • Certain blackout dates apply during the January–April busy season when PTO is not available
  • If the contract does not continue beyond the probationary period, any PTO used in excess of the amount accrued may be subject to repayment

Available After Successful 90-Day Probation:

  • 13th Month Pay – Eligibility begins only after successful completion of the 90-day probationary period. For team members starting prior to the 2026 busy season, the first 13th Month Pay will be earned and paid out in December 2026 (prorated based on actual months of service in 2026).
