Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant with Tax Background is responsible for preparing and analyzing cost reports, monitoring cost efficiency, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The role combines cost accounting functions with tax reporting and filing to ensure accurate financial data and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting Functions

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, documentation, and records.
  • Analyze manufacturing, labor, and overhead costs to determine cost efficiency and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare cost reports and variance analyses for management decision-making.
  • Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate recording of cost movements.
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to validate cost data and ensure accurate standard costing.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with cost-related inputs.

Taxation and Compliance

  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (e.g., VAT, withholding taxes, income tax).
  • Ensure compliance with BIR regulations and other government requirements.
  • Maintain and update tax schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in tax audits and coordinate with external auditors or tax consultants.
  • Provide tax impact analysis for business transactions and cost decisions.

Financial and Administrative Support

  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Assist in financial audits by providing necessary cost and tax information.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations related to cost and tax accounts.
  • Recommend and implement cost control measures to improve profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Accountancy, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in cost accounting and taxation.
  • Solid knowledge of Philippine tax laws and BIR compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and integrity in handling financial data.

  • Expertise in cost analysis and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and tax compliance.
  • Problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and reporting skills.
