Job Description

The Product Compliance and Import Officer ensures that all consumer electronic products meet the regulatory, safety, and quality standards required for importation and distribution in the Philippines. This position also oversees the complete import documentation process—from coordination with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensuring smooth customs clearance and certification renewals.

This role is vital to maintaining the company's compliance standing with agencies such as DTI, DOE, BPS, and NTC.

Key Responsibilities

Product Compliance

  • Ensure all electronic products comply with regulatory requirements set by DTI, DOE, BPS, NTC, and other relevant agencies.
  • Facilitate product testing, registration, and certification applications (e.g., ICC, PS Mark, Energy Labeling, NTC Type Approval).
  • Maintain a master list of all product certificates, renewal dates, and supporting documents.
  • Monitor updates in government regulations related to consumer electronics and ensure the company's adherence.
  • Coordinate with testing laboratories and government agencies for product assessments and renewals.

Import Documentation

  • Prepare and verify import documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
  • Ensure correct HS code classification and product descriptions for customs declaration.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, forwarders, and customs brokers for timely release of shipments.
  • Track and monitor shipment status to ensure on-time arrival and delivery to warehouse.
  • File and maintain complete import records for compliance and audit purposes.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, and Accounting teams for import and compliance requirements.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on product certification status, pending renewals, and shipment movements.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to importation and product certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in importation and regulatory compliance, preferably in consumer electronics or appliances.
  • Knowledgeable in DTI, DOE, NTC, and BOC processes and requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and document accuracy.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and document management systems.
