Full-time | At least 5 and above years of relevant experience

Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering (BSMarE), Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (BSNAME), or other related fields


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Ship Management Head to lead and oversee all technical and operational aspects of ship management. This role is crucial in ensuring vessel reliability, safety, environmental compliance, and cost efficiency while driving continuous performance improvement across the fleet. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, maritime expertise, and a results-driven approach to ensure the highest standards of operational excellence


Key Responsibilities

Department Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure vessels are managed in full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure robust risk management practices across all Ship Management operations.

Vessel Availability and Reliability

  • Guarantee vessel availability in alignment with plotted schedules.
  • Monitor and enforce operational controls to achieve on-time departures and arrivals.
  • Ensure port operations efficiency (e.g., hatch cover operations, lashing/unlashing).
  • Communicate vessel-related concerns promptly to internal and external stakeholders.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure full implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) and Company Security System across the fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with all maritime laws, regulations, and international standards.
  • Oversee shipboard maintenance, repair programs, and dry dockings.
  • Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and non-conformities from internal and external inspections.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Manage the department's operational budget and ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
  • Approve dry docking specifications, major repair work, and vessel operating budgets.
  • Review and authorize orders, invoices, and payments within assigned authority limits.

Workforce and Talent Development

  • Lead training and development programs for both sea-based and shore-based personnel.
  • Oversee succession planning for key positions within the department.
  • Implement performance evaluation systems and ensure follow-through on developmental interventions for underperforming staff and crew.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline
  • Chief Engineer license or equivalent maritime qualification preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in ship operations, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of ISM Code, IMO regulations, classification society rules, and port state control requirements
  • Proven experience in dry docking, vessel performance monitoring, and budget control
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive compliance and operational efficiency in maritime environments
  • Amenable to work or relocate in Cebu City
