Job Summary:

The ESL Head Teacher is responsible for overseeing the academic quality and effective delivery of English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. The role involves supervising ESL teachers, ensuring curriculum standards are met, supporting professional development, and maintaining a high standard of teaching and learning for students.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership

  • Oversee daily academic operations of the ESL program.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment with institutional goals and international ESL standards.
  • Develop lesson plans, teaching strategies, and assessment tools in collaboration with the academic team.
  • Monitor student progress and implement improvement plans as needed.

Teacher Management & Development

  • Supervise and mentor ESL teachers, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to ensure teaching effectiveness.
  • Facilitate training workshops and professional development for teachers.
  • Assist in teacher recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation.

Student Support & Engagement

  • Address academic concerns and provide guidance to students.
  • Organize enrichment activities to enhance language learning.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Administration & Coordination

  • Prepare academic reports, student evaluations, and program updates.
  • Coordinate with management on academic policies and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and educational standards.
  • Manage schedules, class assignments, and teaching loads.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certification required.
  • At least 3–5 years of ESL teaching experience; previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable to diverse learning environments.
