What can you expect in a Systems Administrator role with TaskUs:

The ideal SysAdmin is a technically hands-on, security-minded, and process-oriented systems engineer with strong experience in Azure, ProSeries or mission-critical applications, and automation, capable of owning infrastructure operations end-to-end and serving as a linchpin in the organization's cloud and tax processing ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Keep a close watch on system health, perform troubleshooting, and handle incidents as necessary. Validate alerts and involve the appropriate IT technicians for further investigation. Your role is critical in identifying and resolving issues promptly.

  • Routine Maintenance: Carry out regular health checks beyond automated monitoring to swiftly detect and address service-affecting issues. Handle server, storage, and database backups, and ensure proper offsite storage and disaster recovery procedures are in place.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of all activities and generate periodic performance reports. Provide detailed metrics to management, both internal and customer-facing, as requested.

  • Incident & Change Management: Execute established procedures for event, incident, and change management. Follow escalation procedures and troubleshooting processes while fostering a collaborative and respectful team environment.

  • 24/7 Flexibility: Be prepared to manage these responsibilities around the clock, ensuring seamless support and maintenance at all times.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5—7 years of total experience in system administration and hybrid cloud environments (mid to senior level).

  • Proven experience with:

    • Azure infrastructure management, including Virtual Machines, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and network services.

    • Microsoft 365 administration, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and security policies.

    • Active Directory (on-prem & Azure Entra ID) with hands-on experience in identity lifecycle management, group policies, and SSO.

    • Strong background in business-critical software support (ideally financial/tax/accounting systems).

  • Can start ASAP or within 30 days.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep expertise in PowerShell scripting for automation of routine tasks (user provisioning, system monitoring, etc.).

  • Comfortable working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, or Azure Resource Manager templates) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring and alerting tools (Azure Monitor, Sentinel).

  • Knowledge of networking concepts (firewall, VPN, VLAN, DNS, DHCP).

  • Strong understanding of security best practices and ability to work closely with security teams to enforce policies.

  • Detail-oriented and proactive — does not wait for things to break; maintains a preventative maintenance approach.

  • Problem-solver under pressure — can diagnose critical issues rapidly, especially during tax season or peak workload times.

  • Collaborative communicator — capable of working across multiple teams (security, data/AI, and helpdesk) with clear and non-technical explanations.

  • Documentation-focused — committed to building and maintaining knowledge base for ProSeries, infrastructure diagrams, and incident playbooks.

  • Strong project management skills to lead initiatives like ProSeries migration, Azure improvements, or VDI expansions.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, compliance-heavy environments (financial services, accounting, legal, etc.) is a strong advantage.

  • Willing to mentor junior support staff and IT associates, helping to uplift the overall IT team capability.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science) or equivalent professional experience.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
