Reports To: Chief Dietitian

Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting meals according to dietary standards and meal plans set by the hospital. This role ensures food is nutritious, safe, and appealing while complying with sanitation and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with standardized recipes, portion control, and dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure timely preparation of meals for patients, staff, and other hospital requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, cooking utensils, and equipment.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene practices, including proper food storage and handling.
  • Monitor food supplies and assist in inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the Dietary Supervisor and team to adjust menus based on dietary needs and availability of ingredients.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • At least High School graduate.
  • With 1 to 2 years of experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, institutional, or catering setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and basic nutrition.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork, time management, and communication skills.

Work Conditions:

  • May require shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Standing for extended periods and exposure to heat in the kitchen environment.
