Sabio Advisory is partnering with a well established global technology company that builds mission critical financial systems used by organizations across multiple regions.

As the company continues to modernize its platforms using AI assisted development, they are looking to bring in a Junior Developer who is curious, thoughtful, and eager to learn how real world systems actually work.

This is an opportunity for an early career engineer to work in an environment where quality, understanding, and judgment matter as much as writing code, and where AI is used as a tool rather than a crutch.

Role Overview

The Junior Developer will support development and delivery work across the company's core systems, working closely with more experienced engineers to understand how requirements translate into reliable, production ready solutions.

This role focuses on learning how systems behave end to end, reviewing and improving AI assisted code, and supporting CI CD, automation, and troubleshooting activities.

This is a part time role suited for someone looking to grow their technical foundation while contributing meaningfully to live systems.

Candidates must have 1-2 years of software development experience.

Time Commitment: Minimum 15 hours per week

Availability: At least 2 hours overlap with SGT morning time

Key Responsibilities
Development and Delivery
  • Assist in translating business requirements into clear technical specifications
  • Review AI generated or pre written code with guidance, focusing on correctness and maintainability
  • Help troubleshoot customer reported issues by following symptoms through the system
  • Support validation of fixes to ensure issues are properly resolved
  • Contribute to QA checks and understand why implemented solutions work
  • Provide task estimates with support and communicate progress clearly
  • Assist with migrations, upgrades, and one off technical tasks
  • Keep the team informed on progress, questions, and blockers
DevOps and Infrastructure
  • Support maintenance and improvement of CI CD pipelines
  • Help identify manual steps that could be automated
  • Assist in monitoring and alerting setup under guidance
  • Participate in scheduled deployments and releases when required
  • Contribute to documentation that explains system behaviour and decisions
What We're Looking For
Technical Foundation
  • Basic understanding of Java and J2EE architecture
  • Working knowledge of SQL including reading and reasoning about queries
  • Introductory awareness of AWS or cloud environments
  • Willingness to work with both legacy and modern codebases

  • Curiosity about how systems connect and behave
  • Openness to investigating root causes instead of stopping at surface fixes
