The Senior Structural Technician helps to work as part of our Structural Team to provide CAD support to engineering projects. Developing work or projects plans using engineering principles

Main Responsibilities include:

• Comply with all role specific SHEQ obligations
• Prepare concise engineering drawings from sketches and design information unassisted.
• Comply with CAD Standards and Quality Systems relevant to specialisation and location and apply techniques and procedures commonly used in that practice area and specialisation.
• Undertake reviews of engineering drawings to ensure compliance with CAD Standards and Quality Systems.
• Manage and monitor the quality of work performed by others and promote a culture of technical excellence through mentoring and training less experienced drafters.
• May function as Project Team Lead Technician and manage the drafting aspects on projects of varying complexity and size, including planning and controlling of deliverables, resource management and maintaining communication between engineering and drafting staff on the project.
• Possess appropriate time management skills and flexibility to allow for the management of a varying workload.
• Actively assist colleagues in achieving improved client feedback results, enhance satisfaction and exceed client expectations.
• Mentor junior Structural Technician
• Provide key technical expertise across a broad range of projects.
• Utilise a high level of drafting and detailing.
• Apply safety in design processes in all projects
• Perform tasks assigned by the Principal Structural Technician or Drafting Discipline Lead / Bridges Discipline Lead / Regional Team Executive in line with his experience, discipline or qualifications.

Qualifications (minimum and desirable):

• Diploma of Engineering or Advanced Diploma of Engineering, equivalent Senior Technical Associate - CADD

Experience, Capabilities & Competencies:

• At least eight (8) years of relevant structural drafting experience
• Sound understanding of industry products and their integration with the BIM/DE process
• High-level drafting and detailing skills
• High level use and understanding of CAD software and how it applies (AutoCAD, MicroStation, OBM, Revit, Dynamo)
• Proficient in collaboration tools (ProjectWise, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks)
• Prepares engineering drawing deliverables from sketches, calculations and/or specifications
• Exposure to different business models and industry best practice
• Preferably with experience on Australian projects
