Civil & Structural Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil and Structural Design Engineer to support the design and coordination of civil and structural aspects for PV park projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing civil/structural sections of utility-scale PV park projects, with expertise in structural/civil calculations, BoQ, cost estimation and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpretation of site survey reports
  • Coordination of external structural companies/engineers
  • Act as a single point of contact / direct interface
  • Preparation & communication of scope of work for external structural companies/engineers
  • Develop in-house drawings and technical specifications; develop scopes of work for subcontracting engineering firms and contractors
  • Ensure reports/deliveries are complete and aligned with the scope of work
  • Evaluate proposals from external structural companies/engineers (tender phase)
  • Conduct preliminary structural analysis for feasibility studies of special constructions/substructures
  • Evaluate and optimize substructure designs received from external companies
  • Determine embedding pile length and assess soil testing methods
  • Dimension reinforced concrete foundations and develop detailed civil design packages meeting contractual, code, and permitting requirements
  • Assess load assumptions/combinations for specific locations
  • Assess structural calculations for precast/in-situ foundations for transformer/collector stations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a reputable university
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in designing civil/structural sections of utility-scale PV park projects
  • Familiarity with structural/civil calculations, BoQ, cost estimation and specifications
  • Proficiency in Autodesk products and other calculation/simulation software
  • Experience in preparing bill of quantity/bill of material lists from drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint
  • Expert-level AutoCAD and at least one structural analysis software
  • Ability to work cooperatively with managers and colleagues; open to learning and self-development
  • Chartered Engineer status for AU-NZ region is preferred but not mandatory
