Tasks and duties

  • Promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace.
  • Ensuring state-of-the-art health and safety compliance across the whole organization.
  • Identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues.
  • Assisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible causes and providing remedial advice.
  • Conducting health and safety training sessions for management, supervisors and workers.
  • Assisting with rehabilitation of workers after accidents and overseeing their successful return to work.
  • Coordinating emergency procedures and first aid crews.
  • Developing OHS plans and monitoring compliance.
  • Inspecting workplace and related tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Physically and mentally fit to undertake the duties and responsibilities of a safety officer. This is because you are going to develop and implement safety and health programs in the workplace which requires strong physical and mental health.
  • Possess good moral character and reputation. This is because they are entrusted with the safety and well-being of workers.
  • Undergo required training.
  • Mandatory Eight-Hour Safety and Health Seminar for Workers
  • Prescribed OSH Training Course for Safety Officer 1 (BOSH SO1)
  • 40-hour Mandatory Basic Occupational Safety and Health for Safety Officer 2 (BOSH SO2)
  • 40-hour Mandatory Training for the Construction Industry (COSH SO2)
  • Complete the government-mandated basic training on OSH. This 40-hour seminar will equip you with knowledge in safety basics, job hazard analysis, and emergency preparedness.
