I. POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager – Retail is responsible for overseeing and managing the full spectrum of accounting operations across all retail branches. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, proper internal controls, timely processing of transactions, compliance with accounting standards, and support for retail operations through financial analysis. The Accounting Manager supervises the accounting team and works closely with store managers, auditors, suppliers, and management.
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy of accounting records including sales reports, expenses, and inventory.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Ensure timely closing of books and submission of financial reports.
2. Retail Sales & Cash Monitoring
- Monitor daily sales reports from all branches.
- Oversee reconciliation of POS reports, deposits, and cash variances.
- Review cash counts, petty cash, and ensure proper cash handling procedures.
3. Accounts Receivable & Payable Management
- Review and approve AP vouchers, billing statements, and payment schedules.
- Monitor collections, customer ledgers, and outstanding balances.
- Ensure timely and accurate supplier payments and account settlements.
4. Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor inventory movement, store transfers, and stock adjustments.
- Coordinate with warehouse and retail operations for stock reconciliation.
- Review cost of goods sold (COGS), shrinkage, and variances.
5. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with BIR requirements and government regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of VAT, withholding tax, and other tax filings.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Support external and internal audits, providing required documents and clarification.
6. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and sales forecasts.
- Track budget utilization and provide variance analysis.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives and financial process improvements.
7. Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise accountants, bookkeepers, and accounting staff.
- Provide training, performance evaluations, and task assignments.
- Ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of deliverables.
8. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with retail operations, purchasing, warehouse, and HR.
- Coordinate with banks, suppliers, auditors, and government agencies when needed.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an advantage but not always required.
- At least 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
- Experience in handling retail sales, POS transactions, and inventory systems.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, supervisory, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
