Key responsibilities

  • Production and operations: Manage the day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production targets, manage production schedules, and oversee workflow and staff.
  • Staff management: Supervise, train, and coach plant personnel. This includes performance evaluations, mentoring, and promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Safety and compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations (such as OSHA).
  • Equipment maintenance: Ensure all plant equipment and machinery are maintained in optimal condition through regular inspections and by coordinating repairs.
  • Quality control: Monitor production processes to ensure product quality meets company standards and customer requirements.
  • Process improvement: Identify areas for improvement in production processes, recommend solutions to management, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Reporting and record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and other key performance indicators. Prepare reports for management on plant performance.
  • Inventory and supplies: Manage inventory of plant supplies and manufacturing materials to ensure accuracy and efficient use.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Typically requires previous experience in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial environment, often including roles like plant operator.
  • Education: A high school diploma is often the minimum requirement, with an associate degree or technical certification being preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. A strong understanding of plant operations, machinery, and safety protocols is crucial.
