Real Estate Bookkeeper Job Summary

Maintaining accurate financial records is critical for real estate businesses. As a Real Estate Bookkeeper, you will oversee the management of multiple properties' financials using AppFolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain precise financial records for multiple properties utilizing AppFolio software.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor bills and tenant payments, in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, and credit card statements monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare owner statements, financial reports, and draw schedules to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and manage tenant ledgers, security deposits, and lease-related transactions efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and real estate-specific accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with property managers to resolve discrepancies and support audits.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and year-end financial preparations to guarantee seamless operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • CPA or Bookkeeping Certification (a plus).
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate.
  • Proven expertise in AppFolio software (required).
  • Experience managing financials for multiple properties or portfolios.
Skills & Tools:
  • Advanced proficiency in AppFolio, QuickBooks, and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Traits:
  • Familiarity with U.S. property management practices.
  • Experience with trust account reconciliation and owner draw processes.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced environment.
