Senior Software Engineering Manager Role

This role is a challenging opportunity for an experienced software engineering professional to lead a distributed team in sustaining open source software.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development, leadership experience, and excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for managing the team, ensuring timely delivery of technical solutions, and promoting modern software development practices.

  • Main responsibilities include managing and leading a distributed team of engineers, hiring, coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and career development guidance.
  • Measure key performance indicators, manage training, and support timely delivery of bug fixes, patches, and technical solutions to address business needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development, with leadership experience displaying ability to organise and prioritise complex problem resolution and bug fixes.
  • Experience with version control systems such as git, debugging tools like gdb, crash, or other.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu, and Open Source and Open Source Business Models.
